Darnell Miller

Darnell Miller shared “Ever since i was a little boy, I always knew that I’d go far. Wake up a million hearts around the world, and touch the sky with my guitar”. Musically influenced by Stevie Wonder, Amy Grant Stryper, PRINCE, Whitesnake ,Kings X , Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis , Raphael Saadiq, The Winans and too many more to name. He takes all those influences and creates his very type of super funky gospel rock soul.

Darnell began as a vocalist in the Christina Cultural Arts Youth Chorale under the direction of H.L. Ratliff, and a gospel duo called Tru. From there he became a part of the gospel group Emory Marshall and Perfected Praise first as a vocalist and then later as a songwriter and guitarist. In the early 2000’s he joined Tye Tribbett and G.A., toured the globe and recorded two Grammy nominated projects with the group “Victory…Live” and STANDout. His guitar style influenced a new breed of players. Darnell also recorded on the Eric Roberson Project titled “Left” which was also Nominated for a Grammy. Darnell went on to form the Duo Tilting Windmills and they released their local hit “My Life with You ” which garnered them a Homey Award Nomination. After that he formed the Souldaires a Funk/Boogie/Soul band. In 2017 the EP “Jesus and Jameson” was released to critical acclaim.

Although most of his career achievements have been in the gospel field, Darnell is an artist that doesn’t fit into any particular category. Darnell is also an Arts Educator with Christina Cultural Arts Center and Kuumba Academy inspiring the next generation of artists.
